The Mainframe Transformation Manager leads the analysis, planning, and implementation of service oriented systems across various platforms, focusing on maintaining legacy mainframe systems and coordinating with modernization teams. They build strong relationships with business units and leadership, make key IT decisions, and align efforts with strategic goals. The role also involves collaborating with other mainframe managers to develop long-term modernization and resourcing plans.
Duties and Responsibilities: Direct OIS service programs by setting policies, procedures, and priorities aligned with higher-level guidance. Optimize resource use to meet ODHS/OHA IT service goals. Analyze the impact of proposed policies, determine required resources, and set program priorities based on partner needs. Oversee budgeting, reallocating human, fiscal, and equipment resources as needed. Lead IT service development, monitor service quality through reports, data, and staff input, and resolve internal conflicts. Coordinate with other OIS areas to ensure compliance with laws and policies. Evaluate service effectiveness using performance metrics and customer feedback. Monitor progress toward goals and adjust as needed. Stay informed on legislative, business, and technology trends, and provide expert guidance to business partners and OIS leadership.
Requirements
Qualifications: Special Requirements: Leadership experience related to software engineering, application development, or Software as a Service (SaaS) implementation, migration or transformation
Minimum Qualifications: Five (5) years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience OR Two (2) years of related experience and a bachelor's degree in a related field. Desired Attributes: In depth knowledge and skills in the following areas: Technical enterprise-level and/or cloud software development experience to include system lifecycle, project management and business engagement System infrastructure including database servers and techniques for sizing environments to meet load/performance requirements Large-scale, enterprise modernization efforts, transition planning and implementation of Enterprise e-source Planning (ERP) Platforms Generative and Regenerative Artificial Intelligence (AI), Large Language Models (LLM) Data Analysis, Business Intelligence and reporting methodologies Experience working with system integration vendors or other software vendors providing solutions specifically in the review and analysis of contracts and other technical vendor deliverables IBM z/OS mainframe systems, infrastructure, operations and applications. Leading distributed or remote technical teams.
